| ration-report.htm | This is a copy of a one-page report that shows the number of Navajos fed by the USA Government while the Navajos were at Fort Sumner. The chart gives the number of individuals fed at 19 cents a day for the months November and December 1867, and January through May of 1868. I do not know how to interprete the ration card. | ration-report.doc |
| status-report.htm | This is the Status Report from the Navajo Agency Fort Sumner N.M. for May 30th, 1868. It lists how many Navajos are in captivity at the Fort, and their condition. It also makes recomendations to the government concerning the future location of the Navajos. It's very insulting in places, but that was the common "mind-set" at the time. | status-report.doc |
| treaty-council.htm | This page reproduces the report of the three days of discussion between the Navajo Chiefs and the USA Government preceeding the treaty. Chief Barboncito made it very clear that the Navajos wanted to go home, and not to a "reservation." Chief Barboncito explained the hardship experienced by The People due to their captivity. He also pleaded with the USA Government to free the Navajo slaves held captive by Mexicans. | treaty-council.doc |
| navajo-1868-treaty.htm | This is the text of the treaty itself. | navajo-1868-treaty.doc |
